"This was an opportunity for us to all get together and raise money collectively, and then distribute it where it really needs to go. Which is to everyone."

The need

The Southeast Seattle Schools Fundraising Alliance (SESSFA) is a network of 17 Southeast Seattle elementary, K-8, and middle schools partnering under the guiding principle that all schools and all students should thrive.

Together, we aim to mitigate the impacts of insufficient school funding on students furthest from educational justice with community-funded support for materials and programs to help every student reach their greatest potential.

Our mission

Engage SESSFA PTAs and PTOs to center advocacy and community building by equitably sharing resources and strengthening relationships across schools for the benefit of all Southeast Seattle students

Collaborate using a fundraising model that shifts focus away from fundraising at individual schools and prioritizes funds for populations furthest from educational equity

"We have introduced a program that ensures every student has access to nutritious snacks between breakfast and lunch. This initiative keeps our students energized and focused throughout the day."
Principal/Administrator, Emerson
"Our students have benefitted from classroom supplies procured through teacher mini-grants. Teachers have been able to purchase items specific to their students' needs."
JaLynn Montes, Principal, Wing Luke
"For every PTSA event, we are able to supply food from local businesses, childcare assisted by local community organizations, and interpretation services in four languages free of charge to our families."
Matt Burtness, 2nd Grade Teacher, Dunlap
"SESSFA funds have helped our school with funding teacher interns, supplies for classrooms, and budget for community building activities."
Chet Lim, Parent & PTA Board Member, Dearborn Park
